Roberta Coleman Benjamin is a California native, currently living in the beauty of northern AZ, specializing in etchings, block prints, and monoprints. As a life long artist and passionate printmaker with a deep love for the craft, she takes her inspiration from the Sierra Nevada’s of her youth, the abundance of the high desert life in AZ, and the riches of nature and wildlife wherever she travels.

Roberta’s professional art career began in the early 1980’s in Los Angeles, where she, alongside her husband, ran a successful fundraising art auction house. Working in the LA art scene she became enthralled with the art of printmaking and studied with master engravers, etching, and printmaking artist in private ateliers, where she learned a wealth of printmaking knowledge in private education.

Incorporating her skills as an artist, and the knowledge she gained from being in the art business, she started her own company in 1990, producing original custom works for corporate and residential clients. Hundreds of Roberta’s large scale artworks, along with her smaller etchings and block prints grace public spaces and homes across the nation.

Later in life Roberta shared her wealth of knowledge as an art teacher at a private school in Prescott, AZ, inspiring countless students to explore their creative potential.

Currently she co-owns and operates a creative printmaking and letterpress studio, Arc en Ciel, in Prescott, AZ, with her daughter and artist, Brooke Benjamin Hart. At Ciel, Roberta continues to produce new original works, and teach youth and adult classes in the skills of printmaking, both old school and modern techniques.

Roberta enjoys igniting the same passion in others that has driven her throughout her career.
